FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel proposed a cybersecurity pilot program during remarks to the School Superintendents Association and the Association of School Business Officers. The initiative targets K-12 schools and libraries eligible for support.
The proposal allocates up to $200 million over three years to strengthen cybersecurity defenses. According to the announcement, this funding addresses the growing threat of cyberattacks on educational institutions, particularly ransomware incidents affecting students.
Rosenworcel emphasized that "it's high time to take action" against these threats and aims to identify effective security measures for schools and libraries.
